What is yoga?
The word yoga meaning union is derived from the Sanskrit word yuj which means "to yoke".
Historically, this relates to oneness. We all one with(in) the Earth... the dirt, the creatures (animals), and trees.
In more modern times "to yoke" is to
come together for a common cause.
In this case to practice yoga which can be described as asana, moving meditation, wellness, fitness, or the coming together of mind, body, and spirit.
The practice can be something different for each person and each person can have a different reason for doing yoga, yet no matter what the reason, they can come together in one place or space to practice.
What's your reason?
Smiles Yoga Wellness & Meditation's (SYWM) mission is to help people understand what is yoga, wellness, and meditation?
Once the understanding is there, the journey can begin using these practices to help become aware of what's going with their self and the world around, what are they looking to achieve, and identify next steps on how to get there.
Expanding on this goal, one may start to look at the bigger picture- of life or even universe. Then ask, "How does one connect with self, other, nature, and beyond?"
